On 19th September 2021 on World Cleanup Day, we, along with The Indian Ploggers Army hosted a cleanup drive at VV Puram, Food Street. The event aims at spreading awareness about segregation and how it will contribute to a better environment.

Raj from the Indian Ploggers Army, Eat Raja and Jacob from Jhatkaa.org were present at the venue with the volunteers. Raj started with a basic briefing and an oath that will make the citizens think before using single-use plastic in future.

The briefing involves instructions on the kind of dry waste that we can pick up during the clean-up drive. Some of the examples of dry waste include dry paper, plastic, plates, spoons, etc.

Eight volunteers joined the cleanup drive. We were able to collect 15 bags of dry waste, which mostly includes paper plates, spoons and cups.

You can also contribute to more sustainable cities by saying no to single-use plastics and starting segregation from your home. Share your stories of segregation with us by tagging us @jhatkaadotorg on Instagram or write to us at Chiku@jhatkaa.org with the subject line “My Story on Waste Segregation”.
