Dear Nashikars ,
A road is planned from Mulegaon village to the top of the Anjaneri hills. This road will pass through sensitive forest areas which is declared as a conservation Reserve !! This is the only reserve in Maharashtra for Endangered Long Billed Vultures and Egyptian Vultures. This proposed road will destroy all the cliffs and more than 200 nesting sites. The vultures are already critically endangered.
This road is being planned and pushed by political heavy weights for their own gains. There are no villages on top of the hill which need a road. Infact even the adjoining villages are opposing the move citing disturbance to biodiversity and landscape.
The biodiversity is so rich that it includes 385 flowering plants from 68 families have been reported out of which 114 are endemics out of which 33 are endemic to western ghats. Endemic means native and restricted to a specific area. A notable species is Ceropegia Anjanerica (Kandil Puspa)which is shown in this picture, is only found in Anjaneri.
The area also boast large numbers of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and insects which all contribute to a healthy biodiversity. There are 13 mammal species, 25 reptiles species, more than 200 bird species and insects. They are all under the hammer of unplanned and unwarranted development. Is this what we ask for our green Nashik !!
If the road is made, imagine what will happen to our beloved biodiversity hotspot.This thing is happening in our own city, we shouldn't sit on it.
We urge y'all to raise your voices and ask the Maharashtra Govt to forego this plan of constructing a road through a conservation Reserve and biodiversity hotspot. We will be asking for your help and support in the coming days and we hope you oppose this in every way possible. Your love and support for this city is vital for keeping it clean and green for yourself and for the future generations to come. No road from Mulegaon to Anjaneri should be made....

Six significant threats to reptile populations are habitat loss and degradation, introduced invasive species, environmental pollution, disease, unsustainable use, and global climate change.
Reptiles are a vital part of a healthy environment, with common snakes helping to keep down bugs and rodents that would love to make a nest in your home. Reptile Awareness Day is an excellent opportunity to educate yourself on the wonders of the scaly world, and perhaps learn an appreciation for them.

Our online petition had got tremendous support and had received more than 6000. Signatures in less than 24 hours of its going online. Everyone understands the importance of this area except a few greedy people who go to any extent for monetary gains. Dear Nashikars, we can't keep quite and we need to stop this and save Anjaneri from destruction. Many projects in Nashik like concreting of Godavari banks, road widening etc has bought catastrophic changes and problems. Trees and animals can't vote but you can and hence we should not let another project destroy the beauty of our city. Let's stay united till the very end and even in any other projects that are unwarranted.
